Valentine's Day ideas for families on a budgetPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Valentine's Day is the holiday of love, and on Thursday's Good Morning Arizona, we showed you some ways to celebrate the holiday with the ones you love the most.
Valley mom Lauren Straight is a blogger with Macaroni Kid. She visited the 3TV studios to give us some tips on how to save money while still getting creative for the holiday.
"I think the one big thing is unplugging and pending some time," she says.
1. Share love.
Pack a picnic and get the kids involved. You can even make heart-shaped sandwiches. "It's just a great way to get the whole family involved," says Straight.
2. Give love.
Volunteer your time. One organization called Families Giving Back has volunteer opportunities for all ages, including the younger children. Straight also suggests making cards for kids at the hospital.
3. Create love.
Take holiday photos! Get your camera out and get the kids dressed up and take some Valentine pictures.
