Deals Diva tips for afforadable, fun in-town spring breakPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Thanks so much for tuning into Good Morning Arizona for my weekly Deals Diva segment! We have the most gorgeous weather around this time of year, and you definitely don’t have to pay a ton to have a great time this spring break enjoying all the Valley has to offer! If you haven’t already, I hope you’ll "like" Alicia’s Deals on Facebook, follow me on Twitter and join the Alicia’s Deals e-mail list. You can now download my FREE app "The Deals Diva" on iTunes here or on Google Play here!
Library Culture Pass: Check out the Culture Pass at your local library. There are lots of new attractions available like the Challenger Space Center, the Children’s Museum of Phoenix, the Phoenix Art Museum, the Arizona Science Center, the Heard Museum, and many other great places that are lots of fun (and educational). You check out the passes with your library card and each pass gets up to two people in for free. At many libraries, you can check the availability of the different passes online. Even if the one you want isn’t available, it’s a great way to check out places you’ve never been. I’m all about exploring our great state!
Desert Botanical Garden: Remember that the second Tuesday of each month admission is free to the Desert Botanical Garden from 8 a.m. to 8p.m. Tuesday, March 10 happens to fall during spring break for many Arizona kids this year.
The butterfly exhibit will be back and the weather should be perfect. I recommend getting there early, parking can be tough to find. This is a great bargain, especially when you consider the fact that regular admission is $22 for adults and $10 for kids.
POGO Pass: One of my favorite deals around is the POGO pass. You can buy them for $39.98 each with promo code ALICIA, usually $99.99, and they’ll get you into places all over town for free! The passes are good for a full year. Activities include one pass to Castles and Coasters good for unlimited ride and miniature golf, two admissions to the Phoenix Zoo, two admissions to the IDEA museum, one admission to Sunsplash, tickets to two select Diamondbacks home games, admission to Phoenix Jump Street, and many other fun places! They have a special promotion going right now, if you buy a pass before February 16, you’ll automatically be entered to win a romantic weekend for two including hotel, Cheesecake Factory, Waffle love gift cards, and a Top Golf prize pack. Each person in the family needs their own pass. You could give them for Valentine's gifts and be all set for spring break! Experiences make the best gifts.
Even better, Pogo Pass gave me two passes to give away! Head over here to enter and for more information.
Kindle Deal: Spring Break is also a great time to catch up on reading and I found a great deal on Kindles. These would make excellent Valentines gifts too. Head over here to pick up a Kindle for as low as $59, usually $79, or the kids edition for $134, usually $149. I love that the kids version comes with a two-year guarantee. If they break it, Amazon will replace it, no questions asked.
So many of us have Amazon Prime, and one of the benefits is that you can borrow a book from the Kindle Lending Library each month. The catch is that you must have a Kindle to take advantage of this benefit. If you’re an avid reader, it might be worth getting a Kindle, especially when they’re on sale for $59.
Enjoy the deals and I’ll be back next week with deals to save you lots of money if you’re headed to Southern California for Spring Break!
