PHOENIX, Ariz. – Valentine’s Day is one of the biggest flower-giving holidays of the year. Lots of love means lots of business for flower merchants across the Valley.

257 million roses were grown for Valentine’s Day last year, and Americans are expected to spend about $2.1 billion on roses to show that special someone they care.

Safeway’s in Arizona alone expect to sell about 800,000 roses this Valentine’s Day, so their flower designers are working around the clock to make sure they can keep up.

Safeway store flower design experts will be bringing beautiful bouquets to life all week. Red roses are the most popular buy to say “I love you,” followed by pink roses and then mixed bouquets. Safeway will have a variety of arrangements of all shapes and prices, so anyone can afford to show that they care.

53 percent of women apparently say they will dump their boyfriend if they do not receive a gift for Valentine’s Day, so don’t wait until it’s too late!
