GILBERT, Ariz. -- Americans spend billions of dollars every year to show their Valentines that they care,  but this Valley couple doesn't need to break the bank to say "I love you."

The National Retail Federation reports that the average person will spend about $142 on candy, flowers and other sweet treats for their special someone. Altogether, Americans are expected to spend $18.9 billion to show each other they care this year.

Seth and Crystal Wells have been married for nine years, and they says it’s easy to find little ways to say "I love you," without breaking the bank.

Valentine’s Day isn’t about the money for them. Seth finds his way to Crystal’s heart through her stomach with fresh baked surprises. Crystal makes sure to spend quality time with Seth and puts a little extra thought into making sure he knows she cares.

Seth says that Pinterest helps him find inspiration for wallet-friendly gifts and tricks—a lifesaver for the season of love.
