PHOENIX – Phoenix police have made an arrest in a double shooting that left a 19-year-old mother dead and her 2-month-old daughter injured.

Allyn Smith, 30, surrendered to police on Tuesday. He faces charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and failing to report neglect of a minor.

Khalli Lawrence and her baby were found on a dirt footpath near 17th Avenue and Pecos Road in Ahwatukee on Dec. 11.

Police said Lawrence died after being shot execution style. Her daughter was shot in the leg but survived.

Detectives said Smith and Lawrence had been in a dispute over the paternity of the baby.
