YUMA, Ariz. -- Yuma Fire Department personnel helped animal control officers rescue a stray dog that was stuck in a fence Monday morning.

Officials said the dog tried to crawl through the bars of a wrought-iron fence in the 2200 block of Walnut Avenue and got stuck.

Firefighters used a hydraulic tool to spread the bars slightly and free the dog.

Fire Department spokesman Mike Erfert said the dog was unharmed and the fence was not damaged.

The dog did not have a collar or license tags and was left in the custody of the animal control officers.
