CHANDLER, Ariz. -- Every girl should feel like Cinderella at her prom. That's the message behind the East Valley Women's League's "The Cinderella Affair".

Tempe High School senior Jessica Elkin is going to the prom for the first time this year.

"I liked the pink. I like the long dress but I'm short so I have to find tall enough heels," said Elkin.

She and her friends spent the afternoon combing through racks of prom dresses at the East Valley Women's League's The Cinderella Affair boutique in Chandler.

"It's just an amazing time to see the girls come in and be able to get a dress, because prom is like the most important thing, and then not to have to worry about a dress," said chairperson Traci Estenson.

There are no worries, because there are no price tags.

All the dresses, shoes and jewelry are gently used and new donations.

So the girls get their full head-to-toe prom night couture for free.

"You just have to be a junior or senior girl with valid school ID.  So everyone is welcome. It doesn't have to be someone in need, it's just smart shopping," said Estenson.

The East Valley Women's League collects dresses in February in advance of the big prom season.

You may see pink donation bins around town.

There are 40 of them stationed in the Chandler, Tempe, Ahwatukee, Gilbert and Scottsdale waiting for donations.

Because prom attire can be expensive, The Cinderella Affair takes the stress out of what should be every girl's Cinderella moment at the big ball.

"So this will help out girls and their families and give them a real nice experience. I feel like everyone should go to prom because it's that major experience that you only experience once in your life," said Elkin.
