PHOENIX -- Not much has changed in the overall weather pattern for Arizona. We continue with a strong ridge of high pressure in place, keeping the main storm track to the north and keeping the state warm and dry. Daytime highs in the Valley should continue in the 80s the rest of this week.

A slight change will occur as a rather weak weather disturbance drops down the backbone of the Rocky Mountains, bringing some snow and cooler temperatures to New Mexico and west Texas. That system will cool Arizona off a few degrees and could produce a few rain or snow showers in the extreme eastern portions of the state. However, we’re not expecting any kind of major rain or snow.

Early next week there are some signs of a change in the forecast. In fact, some of our weather models are hinting at a slight chance for rain early next week with cooler temperatures and clouds. That’s still a long way off so the resolution on that forecast is relatively poor.
