Lottery: No jackpot winner in $380M Powerball drawingPosted: Updated:
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Lottery officials say no jackpot winner was selected in the latest $380 million Powerball drawing.
The next drawing will be Wednesday after no one matched Saturday's winning numbers.
Sue Dooley is the senior drawing manager for the Multi-State Lottery Association, which oversees Powerball. She says the estimated value of Wednesday's drawing will be $450 million.
The huge jackpot is a return to form for Powerball, which has been known along with Mega Millions for its record-breaking jackpots in recent years. But the Powerball lottery has experienced a slump, with nearly a year passing since its jackpot total climbed above $300 million.
Powerball's last major jackpot was in February 2014, when it climbed to $425 million.
Powerball tickets cost $2 each.
Customers filed in to buy Powerball tickets at local convenience stores.
One store in east Phoenix sold more than 200 tickets in just 30 minutes.
Customers said they have big plans if they win the $380 million jackpot.
"I'd probably get a house and buy my friend a house and donate some of the money and get my kids in school already," said Deziray Holmeyer.
"I would buy my kids whatever they wanted, a house for myself and my grandkids whatever they need and whatever they wanted," said Veronica Wellington.
Many people said they would be generous with their winnings.
"I would donate a lot I’m sure, and probably just spend it on family," said Chad Hall.
Others like John Bean already have an escape plan in place for if they get to collect the jackpot.
"I'd ride around in my Harley and disappear from everybody so nobody could get my money," said Bean.
The lump sum payout on a $380 million jackpot is $256.8 million.

No winning tickets sold in Powerball, jackpot shoots up to $450 million
By Faith Karimi, CNN
(CNN) -- Millions played and prayed.
But no one got all the six life-changing numbers: 5, 10, 21, 34, 58 and the Powerball, 33. The next drawing will be held Wednesday, and the estimated jackpot now shoots up to $450 million.
The jackpot is among the largest ever and inching closer to the biggest in Powerball history: $590.5 million won in 2013
Meanwhile, here's some mathematical reality: you never stood a chance.
We know, we know -- someone may get at least a share of the prize. If not this one, then in a subsequent drawing.
Chances of it being you? Virtually nonexistent.
The chance of a ticket winning a Powerball jackpot is 1 in 175,223,510. You have a better chance of becoming an astronaut, dating a supermodel -- maybe even being attacked by a shark or struck by lightning -- simultaneously.
But hey, dream on!
We will, too.
