PHOENIX -- Warm weather will be on tap for the Valley this weekend, with afternoon highs in the low to mid-80s.

Those warm temperatures will hold into the middle of next week, when a storm forecast to develop east of Arizona ushers in some cooler air and a slight chance for showers.

In the meantime, we’ll see highs in the 60s and 70s in northern Arizona this weekend, with overnight lows still dropping below freezing at many locations. It will stay dry statewide.

Right now, the late-week storm next week is setting up as more of an eastern Arizona event, with rain and snow showers actually centered in New Mexico.

But with the wraparound moisture, there is a decent chance for precipitation in eastern and southeast Arizona late next week, while only a slight chance we’ll see anything around the Valley.
