PHOENIX -- Many North Phoenix residents are outraged after the city voted that a medical marijuana growing facility can stay in their neighborhood.

The 20-acre grow operation is planned near Deer Valley and Cave Creek roads.

The state's medical marijuana laws require operations like this one to be at least 1,000 feet from nearby homes, but in December the city granted an exception to that rule.

Residents said they're worried about two nearby schools and that the business will hurt their property values.

"Our neighborhood is barely recovering from short sales and foreclosures and all that and now this," Jade O'Brien said. "This is just not fair."

Residents 3TV spoke with said they will appeal.
