PHOENIX -- Sunny and significantly warmer weather can be expected today in the Valley with an afternoon high of 81 degrees. That's more than 10 degrees above our average high of 69 degrees for today's date, but still a ways off from today's record of 87 degrees.
A strong ridge of high pressure building over the West keeps our weather dry and unseasonably warm in Arizona from now through early next week. Look for overnight lows in the mid-40s to mid-50s and afternoon highs in the low 80s, rising to the mid-80s by early next week. Next Monday's forecast high of 84 degrees could tie the record high for that date.
A cooldown is likely by the middle of next week, although rain chances are uncertain. No rain is likely before then. Winds are expected to remain light.
