Stand out with color blocked wardrobe

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) - Stand out with a pop of color this spring with tips from stylist Devy Walker.

Color blocking your wardrobe adds intrigue and excitement to your outfits. It is a great look for people who prefer solids, and a few simple tips make color blocking a snap.

Combine three or more colors for a look that is straight off the runway.

Whether you mix three solid pieces together or choose one of the many color blocked prints available this season, this is a fun, fabulous chic look.

1.    Want a great go-to dress? Try the maxi dress. The combinations of colors is fabulous: Kelly green, royal blue, black, white, and turquoise with a bit of yellow. The vertical direction of the colors create an elongated look for a taller thinner appearance.

2.    This is one you can try at home. Pull out all your favorite pieces, bottoms, tops, and soft over-pieces, like a shrug, cardigan or jacket. Google “color blocking,” and look at the pictures. You will not believe how many colors look great together. Try it; you might like it, and it will make your wardrobe go so much further.

3.    Want a dramatic look? This dress has it all. The amazing color combination of magenta and red is striking. The one shoulder, Grecian style with the sheer overlay is stunning. We added an orange bracelet to complete the look. All of these colors are found in the spring season, and that is why they all work so well together.

4.    This look mixes the neutrals, beige and nude, and pops them with orange and just a touch of black for a glamorous, Pretty Woman look. Not only are the colors mixed, but textures of the fabrics from sheer to tulle makes this dress even more interesting. We added the black hat and black shoes to compliment the waist band and keep the focus on this amazing dress.
