TEMPE, Ariz. – Tempe police are asking for the public's help identifying two suspects responsible for two laptop thefts and an assault on Jan. 9.

According to police, a male suspect grabbed a laptop from a male juvenile who was walking from a Starbucks to a neighboring business at McClintock Drive and Guadalupe Road shortly after 3 p.m.

Nearby witnesses chased the suspect but could not apprehend him. Police said the suspect assaulted one of the witnesses during the incident. That person sustained minor injuries.

The suspect ultimately dropped the laptop and the victim was able to retrieve his property.

About an hour later, two male suspects believed to be involved in the first incident entered the Starbucks at Rural Road and Lakeshore Drive.

Police said one of them placed an order and paid with cash while the other paced in the store. A short time later, one suspect grabbed a laptop from a table, which was being used by a woman. Both suspects fled the business and got into a silver 1999 to 2004 Ford Mustang.

One suspect is described as a light-skinned Hispanic or dark-skinned Caucasian male in his mid to late teens, 5 feet 5 inches tall, 120 to 130 pounds with a slim build and short dark hair. He was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt with an unknown design (possibly Bob Marley), blue jeans or light-colored pants, and black-and-white Converse sneakers.
