PEORIA, Ariz. – A 2-year-old boy is in stable condition after nearly drowning in his family's pool Tuesday morning.

The child was not breathing when his parents pulled him from the pool at their home near Cactus Road and 85th Avenue, according to a spokesman for the Peoria Fire-Medical Department.

The parents immediately began CPR and the boy started breathing and began crying.

Paramedics arrived and evaluated the child then transported him to a local hospital for a thorough examination.

Firefighters said there wasn't a fence around the pool.

"Water doesn't know an age. Water doesn't know a time or season. Water is always beautiful to look at; it's always intriguing. You always have to watch your kids around water. Adult supervision is number one," says Capt. Benjamin Santillan.
