Police searching for driver who hit, killed pedestrian

PHOENIX -- Police are searching for a driver who hit and killed a pedestrian on Saturday.

It happened near 12th Street and Bell Road at approximately 5 p.m., according to Sgt. Tommy Thompson with the Phoenix Police Department.

In an email, Sgt. Thompson said Daniel Miller, 77, was crossing Bell Road mid-block near 12th Street when he was struck by a 2002 Hyundai Accent, driven by a male. 

The driver fled the scene in the vehicle, without providing any aid or assistance.

Detectives have located what they believe is the vehicle involved in the collision and are in the process of trying to determine who was driving it when the collision occurred.
