PHOENIX (AP) -- A Phoenix woman accused in the fatal shooting of her boyfriend last year has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and misconduct involving weapons.

Maricopa County prosecutors say Ashley Elizabeth Eide entered her plea Friday. She's scheduled to be sentenced on March 12.

Eide originally pleaded not guilty in the Feb. 1, 2014 shooting death of 26-year-old Fernando Ruelas.

Authorities say the man was shot on a landing of the Phoenix apartment complex where the couple lived.

Phoenix police say Eide told investigators that she and Ruelas argued and he hit her several times.

Eide also told police that she feared for her life, but didn't mean to shoot him.

Police say Eide had injuries to her face when officers arrived at the apartment complex.
