PHOENIX -- The first major rain for the Valley this year will continue to bring scattered showers overnight through Saturday.

As of 2 p.m. Friday at Sky Harbor Airport, 0.54 inch of rain had fallen. However, in Fountain Hills and parts of Mesa, rainfall totals were already over 1 inch.

Temperatures throughout Friday hovered in the upper 50s.

The center of the storm will be working its way through Mexico over the weekend. For Saturday, it will still be sending us a lot of clouds, cool temps and scattered showers. We think most Valley locations will end up with storm totals in the 1/2 to 1 inch range.

The good news is that by Saturday night, the storm will be breaking up and weakening across Arizona. And by Sunday, the day of the Super Bowl in Glendale, we’ll see lots of sunshine and warm up to 70 degrees.

In the high country, rainfall amounts have also been impressive with this warm storm. Forest Lakes, Pine, Dewey and Williams have recorded an inch or more of rain since Thursday night.
