PHOENIX (AP) -- A Phoenix man accused of slapping, biting and pulling the hair of his baby daughter has pleaded guilty to two counts of child abuse.
Maricopa County prosecutors say 19-year-old Abiezer Neftali Zuniga entered his plea Friday. He's scheduled to be sentenced on March 2.
Zuniga and the child's mother were arrested last April on suspicion of child abuse.
They were accused of abusing their then 1-year-old girl on multiple occasions from February to April 2014.
Phoenix police say officers were sent to the couple's home by the child's maternal grandparents.
After arriving at the family's home, police say they found the child with numerous bite marks and injuries.
Phoenix Fire Department paramedics were called to provide medical treatment to the girl.
