Collision closes Phoenix intersection; man seriously injured

PHOENIX – The intersection of 35th Avenue and Thomas Road in Phoenix is closed due to a collision.

Phoenix police said a Ford pickup truck driven by a 49-year-old woman collided with a Nissan Sentra driven by a 23-year-old man at about 7 a.m. Friday.

Both drivers were transported to a hospital. Sgt. Tommy Thompson said the woman was transported for precautionary reasons, but the man has life-threatening injuries.

Detectives are investigating the incident.

The intersection is expected to be closed in all directions until at least noon.
