PHOENIX -- Phoenix police were involved in a deadly shooting Tuesday evening.

It happened at the Motel 6 at Indian School and I-17.

Police say that investigators from the Major Offenders Bureau had been looking for two armed robbery suspects in a string of recent armed robberies.

They caught one suspect last week, and had been looking for the second suspect. Police then received information that the suspect was at the Motel 6 with a stolen car.

Undercover officers identified the suspect when he came out of one of the motel rooms. When the officers tried to take him into custody, the suspect allegedly got into the stolen vehicle and tried to ram officers to get out of the parking lot.

That's when two officers opened fire on the driver, killing him.

Police say the suspect was about 25 years old, and was the only occupant of the stolen vehicle.

No officers were injured.
