PHOENIX -- Phoenix police have identified a woman who was struck by a suspected drunk driver early Monday morning.

Janeth Betancourt, 22, of Phoenix is in extremely critical condition at a local hospital.

Sgt. Jonathan Howard said the woman was crossing 43rd Avenue mid-block south of Thomas Road at about 12:10 a.m. when she was struck by a southbound vehicle driven by Frank Felix, 41.

Felix was located a distance away from the collision. He was booked on charges of DUI and leaving the scene of an injury accident.

Betancourt was taken to a hospital for treatment. She did not have any identification on her. On Tuesday, detectives released a photo of the victim and the hat she was wearing and asked for the public's help to identify her and locate family members.
