Experience a taste of the Grand Canyon right here in PhoenixPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Football's not the only sport in town this week! How about some rock climbing?
On Tuesday's Good Morning Arizona, Heidi Goitia checked out the "Grand Canyon Experience," which opens up Wednesday, January 28 at Super Bowl Central in downtown Phoenix. It's an adventure that lets climbers get a taste of the Grand Canyon, right here in Phoenix.
The Grand Canyon Experience is a replica wall of the Grand Canyon. It's an interactive experience that features 20 climbing positions with climbing difficulty ranging from kid-friendly to professional. Climbers will also enjoy the breathtaking 18-foot waterfall flowing down the center of the attraction, much like the Colorado River runs through the Grand Canyon.
The attraction measures 30 feet tall by 100 feet wide, and also features an 18-foot video
screen at the summit.
"We started talking to the host committee about how to bring an iconic Arizona landmark into central Phoenix," says Jathan Segur of National Bank of Arizona. "What better thing than the Grand Canyon?"
Tickets to climb the Grand Canyon Experience presented by NB|AZ are now available for $5 per person at www.azsuperbowl.com. Tickets also will be available on-site at Verizon Super Bowl Central beginning Wednesday, January 28 through Feb. 1, 2015.
All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee Legacy Grant Foundation. Funds are distributed to non-profit organizations in Arizona.
