Stabbing victim found lying on Phoenix street

PHOENIX – Phoenix police said a stabbing victim was found lying on Seventh Street south of Thomas Road early Monday morning.

Police were called to the area just before 3 a.m. in response to an injured person.

Officers found a 26-year-old man lying in the southbound lanes of Seventh Street near Oak Street and suffering from apparent stabbing injuries, according to police spokesman Officer James Holmes.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition.

Holmes said officers were able to determine the stabbing occurred at a residence in the area and they have detained a 41-year-old suspect.

The investigation is continuing.
