PHOENIX -- A Phoenix security guard was arrested Thursday for allegedly possessing child pornography.

Detectives with the Arizona Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force identified a north Phoenix home from which child pornography was being distributed.

They served a search warrant on the home near Cave Creek and Bell roads Thursday morning and took 58-year-old Mark Wesley Howard into custody.

Howard reportedly admitted to collecting images of toddlers being sexually abused and told investigators he is sexually attracted to children.

Phoenix police said he also admitted to taking photos of children in the neighborhood around 10 years of age, but he denied ever taking photos of unclothed children.

Investigators reportedly located incriminating images of children under age 10 on Howard's computer.

He was booked into the Maricopa County Jail and charged with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a class two felony and a dangerous crime against children.

Howard was arrested in 1982 for kidnapping and sexual assault of a minor.

Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to call the Internet Crimes Against Children Detail at 623-466-1828, or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO to remain anonymous.
