Glendale teen gets surprise from monster truck driverPosted: Updated:
GLENDALE, Ariz. -- A Mountain Ridge High School student got a surprise visit from a monster truck driver Thursday.
Darren Migues, who owns the Menace monster truck, presented Zachary Lashley with 10 tickets to Saturday's Monster Jam at Chase Field.
"This one's kind of special for us," Migues said. "I can honestly say that it affected me. I started getting emotional and I almost teared up when I presented it to him."
Zach was born at 23 weeks and has Athetoid cerebral palsy. The Glendale teen experiences involuntary movements and uses a wheelchair.
"He has struggles every single day and he's one of those kids that's happy almost all the time anyway," said his mom, Lori Lashley. "When something like this happens, he's just jumping out of his chair and squealing with delight."
Migues said Zach and nine of his friends will get to watch Monster Jam from a suite.
"It makes you forget about everything else," Migues said. "I'm going to make sure he has the best weekend he can. I guarantee it."
Monster Jam begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are available on Ticketmaster.
