PHOENIX (AP) -- Arizona's unemployment rate has dropped again.

State Department of Administration economists said Thursday that the state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for December was 6.7 percent.

That's down from 6.8 percent in both October and November and 6.9 percent in September.

The national unemployment rate decreased two-tenths of a percentage point to 5.6 percent in December.

Economic analysts say six of the 11 major sectors in Arizona added jobs and five reported losses over the month.

Arizona added 7,000 nonfarm jobs in December. Losses were primarily in state and local education, which shed 3,900 jobs but was typical in December as schools prepared for winter break.

Trade, transportation and utilities added 7,600 jobs last month while professional and business services added 1,100 jobs.
