PHOENIX – A reward is being offered to help identify a suspect who assaulted a bus driver with a skateboard last year.

Phoenix police said the suspect attempted to board a Valley Metro bus at 43rd Avenue and Hubbell Street without the proper fare at around 6:15 p.m. on July 10.

Police said when the 67-year-old bus driver confronted the suspect and asked for the correct fare, the suspect struck him in the head and face multiple times with a skateboard before exiting the bus and fleeing.

The suspect is described as a black male, 20 years old, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and 150 pounds with a possible birthmark on his left cheek.

Police have released surveillance video of the assault.
