PEORIA, Ariz. -- Peoria police say a baby was safely removed from a barricade situation Saturday morning.

It happened at an apartment complex near 87th and Grand avenues.

A man in his 20s was reportedly distraught over a recent death in the family, and his roommates feared he had a gun. They left the apartment and called police.

An infant was left at the home, but SWAT teams were able to remove the child safely.

The suspect was eventually taken into custody.
