SCOTTSDALE -- Police are searching for two men who robbed a Scottsdale jewelry store late Friday morning. One of the suspects was armed with the handgun; the other had a hammer.

It happened just before 11 a.m. at the Robert C. Wesley Jeweler-Gemologist store on Fifth Avenue between Goldwater Boulevard and Scottsdale Road in Old Town Scottsdale.

According to police, the suspects are black men in their 20s. They were both wearing dark hoodie sweatshirts.

There were two employees at the store when the suspects walked inside. The armed men ordered the employees to the floor and then smashed several display cases so they could get at the merchandise.

It's not clear how much the men took.

Police said the suspects fled the scene in a dark Chevy Malibu or Impala. The car was last seen heading south on Marshall Way, just west of the shop.

While the store is equipped with surveillance cameras, they apparently were not working at the time of the robbery, police said.

If you have any information about this armed robbery or the suspects, please call the Scottsdale Police Department at 480-312-5000.

Robert C. Wesley Jewelers has been family owned and operated since 1910. The store moved from its original location in downtown Phoenix to its Old Town Scottsdale address in 1953.
