PHOENIX -- Steve and Annette Economedes shared information from their book, "Cut Your Grocery Bill in Half with America's Cheapest Family."

Five tools that could save you thousands of dollars:

1) Freezer (cost $25 - $200 - annual savings $1,000 to $2,000)
2) Meat slicer (cost $12 - $30 - annual savings easily $500 for lunchmeat and cheese)
3) Spoonula (cost $4 - annual savings hard to estimate, but if used several times in a day, it could save up to $1 per day, or $350 per year, plus time saved rinsing out containers for recycling)
4) Pyrex bowl set (cost $10 - $20 - annual savings $1000 - $2,000 by taking lunch two or more times per week)
5) CrockPot (cost $10 - $20 - annual savings $1,700: eating out vs eating dinner at home two days per week)
