Director of Heard Museum in Phoenix leaving for Oklahoma job

PHOENIX (AP) -- The director of the Heard Museum in Phoenix is stepping down next month to take over the top job at the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

James Pepper Henry says the move is a homecoming for him because he's is a member of Oklahoma's Kaw Nation.

Henry came to Phoenix last August.

The Heard Museum spotlights Native American culture and art and is one of Phoenix's top tourist attractions.

The Gilcrease Museum houses an extensive collection of art and artifacts of the American West.

Henry will be executive director at Gilcrease and will leave the Heard Museum on Feb. 27.
