Chucri to head Maricopa County Board of SupervisorsPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -- The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors has a new chairman.
The five-member board on Wednesday unanimously elected Republican Steve Chucri (CHEW-kree) as chairman for the next two years.
The Mesa native is a former restaurant association official who has served on the board for two years.
He represents a district that stretches from Mesa to Fountain Hills and Scottsdale.
Chucri replaces Supervisor Denny Barney as chairman.
