Phoenix man accused of shooting neighbor's dog

PHOENIX -- A 29-year-old Phoenix man was arrested on suspicion of shooting a dog in his neighborhood.

Police said Paul Joseph Duddy was arrested about 3 p.m. Tuesday after he was suspected of shooting the dog with a 12-gauge shotgun near his backyard in the area of 16th Street and Broadway Road.

Duddy claimed the dog was barking.

Police said he also threatened the owner of the dog.

The dog survived, but police did not reveal its condition.

Duddy was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on one count of felony discharge of a firearm within the city limits, one count of injuring an animal and one count of threatening/intimidation.
