Yuma Border Patrol finds $500K in liquid meth hidden in gas tank

YUMA, Ariz. – Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents seized 55 pounds of liquid methamphetamine after inspecting a vehicle on New Year's Day.

Agents assigned to the Border Patrol checkpoint near Wellton referred a vehicle to secondary inspection following a canine alert and discovered 18 packages filled with liquid methamphetamine hidden in the gas tank. 

The liquid meth was worth approximately $510,000, according to officials.

The narcotics and driver were turned over to the Yuma County Sheriff's Office.
