Unsettled weather finishes the week

PHOENIX -- As the ridge of high pressure that’s been bringing us all this warm weather breaks down, the weather pattern will become a bit unsettled for the end of the week and the weekend. Temperatures will also begin to moderate with highs in the low 70s for Thursday and Friday and upper 60s for the weekend.

The clouds we’re seeing around the Valley are spinning in from Mexico, where a rather weak low-pressure system is tracking.

As that system tracks south of our state, it looks like rainfall chances are very limited in southern Arizona. The rest of the state, including metro Phoenix, will stay dry.

However, a weekend weather disturbance is looking a bit stronger on our forecast maps, and it’s now looking like we may see a few light showers on Saturday into Sunday morning.

Right now, the chance for rain in the Valley is only at 10 percent, but in northern Arizona, around Flagstaff, the chance for precipitation for the weekend is around 40 percent. Even so, we’re not looking at a lot of snow in the mountains this time around.

Early next week, there’s another storm forecast that could bring better chances for rain and snow.
