3OYS: Two Valley businesses help homeowners see the lightPosted: Updated:
EL MIRAGE, Ariz. -- “I wanted to get shutters here, because I really don't like the curtains."
In a previous 3 On Your Side report, we told you how Virginia Mendoza handed over a $2,100 deposit to a guy named Chris Vezilj, who in turn, was supposed to make and install shutters inside her El Mirage home. However, Vezilj took off with the money. And turns out Virginia isn't the only victim he left behind.
"Here we were going to do cellular shades so each pane of glass would have its own shade," says
Jessica Chubirka, who was also allegedly ripped off by Vezilj after giving him a $1,500 cash deposit for window treatments.
3 On Your Side tried to track down Chris Vezilj, but all he left behind was an empty storefront and angry customers. However, since that report, a licensed and reputable company has stepped up big time.
"We have a little privacy with some sunshine." Robert Mulvin is with All Pro Shade Concepts, and after seeing 3 On Your Side's report, his company decided to help Jessica out by installing window treatments at a deeply discounted rate since she was already ripped off for $1,500.
“I just wanted to help," he says. "These people give small contractors a bad name."
Jessica says she loves the treatments and owes it to 3 On Your Side for sharing her story. "They are unbelievable. We definitely would not have anybody help us if we didn't contact them."
But Mulvin and All Pro Shades didn't stop there. He had another Valley business, Home Decor, install wood shutters throughout Virginia Mendoza's home as well, and once again, the price was minimal.
Art Timmer is with Home Decor. "Great feeling basically to make sure she gets everything she wants and makes her house beautiful," he says.
Virginia says she's grateful not only for the contractors who stepped up, but also to 3 On Your side. “If it wasn't for you guys I don't think this would've gotten done, especially at the price that I paid."
A big thank you to All-Pro Shade Concepts and Home Decor. By the way if you know where Chris Vezilj is, the man who allegedly ran off with all that money, let 3 On Your Side know. 3OYS@azfamily.com
