SURPRISE, Ariz. -- A man is hospitalized after his tractor ended up in a sump pond on a farm near Cotton Lane and Peoria Avenue in the West Valley Friday afternoon.

It is not clear how the man flipped the tractor, but it left him in the cab underwater for several minutes.

Workers on the farm saw the accident and tried to get the man out, but it took a combined effort of firefighters and police officers to hook another tractor up to the flipped one and pull the cab above the waterline.

The man was rushed to a hospital in critical condition.

There is no word on the identity of the victim.
