SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- When you live in the desert, any amount of snow, even a dusting, is exciting.
"I woke up and my car was like iced over," said Paige Howell, who lives in the Troon area in North Scottsdale. "Oh my gosh, I was like, what's going on? It was totally unexpected, but it's so pretty though!"
From covered cars to covered rooftops, that's what folks living near Happy Valley Road and 115th Street found Thursday morning. Snow blanketed what's normally dry desert-scape.
"We saw it last night, our whole yard was filled with snow," described one Troon resident as she was out for a run. "It was beautiful, amazing."
Despite the temperatures dipping to near freezing here, it was business as usual. Folks went on their morning walks and runs next to snow-covered trails and a normally green golf course that was painted white.
All agreed that the cold temperatures are a welcome change. Soon enough, summer will be back and so will the scorching heat.
