PHOENIX -- A puppy who was rescued from a storm drain over the weekend has found a new home.

Ashliegh Goebel with the Arizona Humane Society said a large crowd of people showed up at the Petique Retail and Adoption Center Wednesday afternoon in hopes of taking home the 9-week-old puppy, Tanner.

Tanner was rescued from a storm drain after a Tempe police officer heard the puppy crying and saw him cowering under cobwebs in the drain.

Police said Tanner appeared hungry and cold but in good health.
