PHOENIX -- A 28-year-old Phoenix father is accused of using a coat hanger to discipline his 4-year-old daughter.

Anthony Hernandez was arrested just before noon Monday and charged with three counts of felony child abuse after police said Hernandez admitted using the hanger as a tool of discipline.

The girl's grandmother originally found marks and bruises on the girl's body that appeared to have been made by a hanger, according to a Phoenix police officer's probable cause statement.

Additional cuts and bruises were evident in pictures supplied to police by the grandmother, according to the statement.

The girl told her grandmother her father had inflicted the injuries and later told police that her older sister had seen the beating, according to the statement.

Hernandez was arrested in Scottsdale and taken to the Phoenix Police Department, where he was questioned and booked into jail.
