PHOENIX (AP) -- A 38-year-old Phoenix woman has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and aggravated assault charges in the stabbings of her two children.
Brenda Begay entered her plea Tuesday in Maricopa County Superior Court.
Police said Begay's 12-year-old daughter woke up Dec. 16 to find that she'd been stabbed in the chest and that her 13-year-old brother had multiple stab wounds to the chest and a cut on his wrist.

According to police, officers went to the family's home after Begay called 911.
She pleaded no contest in 2006 to a child abuse charge involving domestic violence.
