Holidays at the Heard
A Southwestern tradition, Holidays at the Heard is a must-see for your family, friends and out-of-town guests, starting Friday, Dec. 26, and continuing through Wednesday, Dec. 31.

Visitors can enjoy fry bread as they experience American Indian music and dance performances including Choctaw, Hopi, Maricopa and Navajo dancers as well as crowd favorites like hoop dancing and fancy dancing.

In addition to music and dance performances twice daily at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. (except 12:30 and 2 p.m. on Sunday), visitors can also enjoy 12 exhibit galleries including "Home: Native People in the Southwest" as well as two exhibits that feature hands-on craft activities and artwork that are perfect for families.

Plus, meet the authors of Greater Phoenix's Encanto-Palmcroft Neighborhood - which includes a discussion of the Heard and its founders, Dwight and Maie Bartlett Heard - who will sign copies of their book purchased at Books & More. Leigh Conrad will appear on Friday, Dec. 26 and G.G. George will appear on Saturday, Dec. 27. The book in paperback is available at $21.99.

And enjoy these special demonstrations outside on the Heard's grounds 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 27-28, in celebration of our now-open exhibit, "Beautiful Games: American Indian Sport and Art."

Royce Manuel (Akmierl Au-Authm) will use traditional tools to create bows and arrows and will invite you to try your hand at it! (Libby Amphitheater).

Arcina Conde (Tohono O'odham) will show how a traditional stickball game is played by women of her community. Our visitors will be welcome to learn to play the game, too! (Freeport McMoRan Plaza).

Visitors can also browse items in the Museum Shop. Have lunch at the Courtyard Café, open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day during Holidays at the Heard.
