US 60 reopens east of Superior

PHOENIX -- US 60 has reopened in both directions about one mile east of Superior, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
 
The highway closed about 9 a.m. to investigate an overnight crash at milepost 228, near the Queen Creek Tunnel.

Crash closes US 60 east of Superior

PHOENIX — An investigation into an overnight crash has closed US 60 in both directions about one mile east of Superior, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The closure is at milepost 228, which is near the Queen Creek Tunnel.
 
The closure is expected to continue into Saturday afternoon, though there is no further estimated time to reopen the highway.
 
Drivers can get around the closure via a 75-mile detour by taking State Route 177 southbound from Superior to Winkelman, where State Route 77 northbound connects with US 70 near Globe. Drivers can return to US 60 in Globe.
