SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- A man who allegedly shot a Walgreens employee during a robbery on Christmas Day was taken into custody after crashing on the Loop 101.

Scottsdale police said the robbery and shooting happened at the store near McDowell and Hayden roads around 4 p.m.

Responding officers saw the suspect vehicle heading east on McDowell Road and pursued it to the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.

Police said the suspect, now identified as Cody Ray Moore, failed to negotiate a turn at Thomas Road and the Loop 101 and crashed into a power pole. He was not injured.

Police said Moore, 21, was taken into custody without further incident.

The employee was transported to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
