PHOENIX -- A man has died after been shot multiple times, according to Phoenix police.

The victim was found in an apartment at a complex on McDowell Road near 40th Street.

Police were called to the scene just after midnight on Wednesday.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he died.

Police do not have anyone in custody in connection with the deadly shooting.

Officers spent the morning questioning residents and other people in the area.

Residents hope police catch the killer soon because they are concerned about their own safety.

"I have two little kids. We just try to keep to ourselves in the apartment," said Ashley Marcial. "I haven't heard gunshots but there's a lot of arguing and the cops are here a lot. You hear yelling outside and things like that so it's not that pleasant."

Police have not released any details on their investigation.
