BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. (AP) -- Mohave County Sheriff's officials say a deputy facing domestic violence-related charges has been fired.

Mohave County Sheriff's spokeswoman Trish Carter says Deputy Steven Armstrong was terminated Monday after an internal investigation found his conduct was inconsistent with departmental policy.

Carter says the Sheriff's Office put Armstrong on paid administrative leave last month after learning he was being investigated by Bullhead City police.

Authorities say Armstrong's mother-in-law told police Nov. 21 that he assaulted her at his home in Fort Mohave.

Armstrong was charged Dec. 1 with one count of domestic violence-assault and two counts of domestic violence-disorderly conduct.

Armstrong's wife, Kimberly Armstrong, and the victim are also facing one count each of domestic violence-disorderly conduct.

Armstrong was first hired in 2008.
