PHOENIX -- As we head toward the holidays and the weather cools down, nothing feels better than a nice, cozy sweater.

On Tuesday's Good Morning Arizona, personal stylist Devy Walker shared some great ways to look both cozy and chic this winter.

She says as the temperatures drop, it's time to pull out those favorite sweaters or pick up some new ones.

With the Arizona Cardinals doing so well, there's a really cute way to mix your knits for a Sunday game or house party. Start with your team colors for fun. Cardinals' colors are black, red and white, so start with a favorite tee or light-weight sweater.

"Thank goodness our colors are red, black and white," says Walker. "Can you imagine if they were green and gold?"

When layering, keep your bottom layer light so you don't get too hot. Pair this with a black cardigan, a scarf that's either red, white or black in color, and a pair of skinny jeans. Add a comfy boot with a boot sock peeking out, and you've got yourself a fun, comfortable and cute look.

For another chic winter look, mix a mini skirt or pair of shorts, in a fall or winter fabric, with a pair of tights. It'll keep the look cozy and warm. Pair that with flat boots or flats for a casual look. Keep your sweater simple. A crew neck is a perfect complimentary piece to the shorts or skirt. Add a blazer or fleece jacket to finish the look.

"The nice thing is, she can peel this off and be very comfortable," Walker says.

Walker's favorite piece for winter is the over-sized sweater. But don't buy a heavy knit. Stick with a light weave in a light color. This will show off the detail and allow you to actually enjoy it.

You want to make sure whatever you wear on the bottom is fitted, since a baggy bottom will not be flattering with an over-sized sweater. "If you're going to wear an over-sized sweater, by all means, don't wear an over-sized pant," Walker advises.

For a sexy look try a pair of high heel booties. If it's a cool night, these sweaters look great with a sweater wrap over them.

The must-have right now for a chic winter look is a sweater dress. They come in a variety of knit weights and styles. Try a medium weight and a half slip to minimize lumps and bumps.

Once you find your best style, you won't believe how many ways you can wear it. Add a Vintage pin for a dressy look, long necklaces with boots for a more casual look or a jean Jacket, tights and flats for a super comfy look.
