GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Fire destroyed a home Monday night but everyone got out safely.

Three people were inside the home near 59th and Glendale avenues when the fire started, apparently on the back patio. They got out on their own.

Firefighters were concerned that people may have been trapped in a house behind the house that caught fire but that was not the case.

"This area a lot of times you'll have a house in the rear of another house so that's what we were worried about," said Capt. Paul Morales with the Glendale Fire Dept. "I was worried about the adjacent houses but we got pretty quick knock down on the fire and we got it out pretty quick."

The fast-moving blaze sent flames high into the air and spread to electrical lines.

"The lines came down so there was a little bit of a danger from that because the line burned down there was sparking back there for a while so we called APS out to secure those lines," Capt. Morales said.

The home is a total loss. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
