Phoenix weather: cool weekend aheadPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- A ridge of high pressure located west of Arizona will bring us some nice weather through Wednesday. We will see some breezes at times, as a weak cold front drops mainly through eastern Arizona. But that front won’t have much of an impact on temperatures. Highs expected to be in the mid-60s through Wednesday.
By Christmas Day, there's more progress happening in the upper atmosphere. While Thursday will be mild, we will see a bunch of high clouds. Then, as colder air arrives, it looks like the rest of the holiday weekend will feature temperatures below average for this time of year. We’re talking about highs in the low 60s for metro Phoenix with overnight lows in the low-40s. It is expected to be quite chilly.
While there is little chance for precipitation in the Valley on Christmas Day, northern portions of the state might see a bit of rain and snow shower action. However, no major accumulations are expected at this point.
